ABSTRACT
This study aims to explore the perceptions of urban and rural communities toward the use of the BYOND by BSI application as a digital Islamic banking service in Sungai Penuh City. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected through in-depth interviews with 20 purposively selected respondents, supported by non-participant observation. The results show that urban communities adopt the application more quickly, viewing BYOND as efficient, easy to use, and aligned with Islamic principles. In contrast, rural communities still face challenges such as limited digital literacy, unstable internet access, and reliance on family assistance. Trust in system security, user-friendly interfaces, and religious values are key factors shaping positive perceptions. The study concludes that the success of Islamic digital banking services like BYOND requires educational strategies, infrastructure improvement, and culturally rooted approaches to ensure broader acceptance across communities with diverse social and geographical conditions.
